Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and Head of the Coordinating Body for Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja Milan Markovic today stated that he is in close contact with representatives from Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja authorities, adding that as soon as an investigation is carried out, it will be clear whether the explosion in Presevo is linked with the attack on Gendarmerie members that occurred in Bujanovac last week.
The terrorist attack was obviously aimed at bringing unrest, challenging the capability of state bodies, frightening Albanian citizens and forcing Serbian citizens to leave Presevo, said Markovic in an interview with the Politika daily.
He stressed that neither Serbs nor Albanians are satisfied with this difficult situation in southern Serbia.
The Coordinating Body for Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, in cooperation with other state bodies, is working on solving many problems, such as the provision of schoolbooks in Albanian and the presence of Serbs in local self-governments and Albanians in public institutions.
Markovic announced the opening of departments of Nis University Faculties of Law and Economics in Medvedja, where both Serbs and Albanians will be able to study in their own language.
