Dacic said at a press conference in Vranje that the UNMIK police will be given the video recording from the village of Velikince in the Gnjilane municipality which shows the process of unloading arms, ammunition and military equipment from a truck belonging to Chenan Mehmeti, who was arrested this morning in Miratovac, near Presevo.
He said that Fadilj Fera from Gnjilane and member of the Kosovo Police Refik Basa from Kosovska Kamenica also took part in these activities, therefore Serbia will demand that UNMIK police and EULEX arrest them.
The Minister explained that the main organisers of the weapons smuggling route from Kosovo are Sadat Nuhiu and Gafur Delipi, as well as leader of the association of former fighters of the Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac liberation army and member of the Gnjilane terrorist group Ljuljzim Ibissi.
They are somewhere in Southern Serbia and a search of Ibissi’s house has revealed large quantities of weapons and military equipment which have been shown to members of the press.
He reiterated that it is in Serbia’s interest to cut off illegal channels for trafficking weapons, military equipment and ammunition.
The Minister stressed that the Serbian police and the Gendarmerie have raised security levels, announcing that they will continue their activities aimed at blocking weapons trafficking channels, as we cannot let terrorists move from Kosovo to southern Serbia or northern Macedonia.
Dacic called upon citizens living in southern Serbia to help the police to prevent any further terrorist activities, because it is in the interest of the entire state to enable multiethnic police forces to secure peace and stability in that part of the country.
Citizens should not be afraid that the state and police forces will undertake repressive measures owing to the terrorist attacks that happened several days ago, but Serbia will take severe measures against those involved in terrorism, he said.
Two persons, 42 year old Afrodita Saban and 12 year old Donik Zeiri, were injured last night in the explosion that occurred in front of the building where Serbian army and police members live.
