Markovic told a press conference that the law will reduce the power of political parties and establish a more direct relationship between citizens and public officials.
Markovic recalled that parliament adopted the Law on political parties and that draft laws on electoral lists, election of councillors and state electoral commission are being created now.
Markovic added that the ministry also worked on draft laws on associations, community police and registry books.
He announced that citizens will be able to obtain birth certificates in any municipality in Serbia as of 2013.
Markovic, who is president of the Coordinating Body for Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, said that return of Albanians to the organisation is one of the most significant results achieved in the past year.
Together with the Education Ministry we worked on reforming education in the south of Serbia, he said, noting that text books in Albanian for primary and secondary schools are ready.
He also announced the opening of branch offices of Nis’ faculties of law and economics in Medvedja.
Markovic said that a feasibility study is being prepared regarding the opening of university institutions in Bujanovac and Presevo.
He said that the Coordinating Body’s budget is RSD 363.2 million, RSD 25 million of which goes towards social welfare and RSD 6 million to NGOs.
Markovic also said he expects a mine will be opened in Medvedja in order to create new jobs.
Commenting on the recent explosion in Presevo, Markovic said that this was an act of terrorism.
