Assault on police officers attack on state

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said today when visiting two Gendarmerie members who were injured last night near Bujanovac that the an assault on a police officer is an attack on the state of Serbia and its territorial integrity.
Dacic noted that the two police officers were fired upon with a hand-held grenade launcher in a classic act of terrorism.
He explained that terrorist groups from the territory of Kosovo lurk over the administrative border, about which Serbian police will warn EULEX.
The state of Serbia and the Interior Ministry will continue to maintain public peace and order and will provide safety for all citizens of Serbia, he said.
Dacic repeated that Serbian security forces will respond resolutely to any threat to the country’s territorial integrity or members of the Serbian police.
The injured officers were admitted to the Military Medical Academy (VMA) and their condition is now stable.
