In a statement to the press following the signing of the agreement between the city of Novi Sad and the Novi Sad police administration concerning the use of equipment, Dacic stressed that two Gendarmerie members were wounded last night in Lucane, in the Bujanovac municipality, primarily because not all terrorist groups in the province have been disarmed as envisaged by Resolution 1244.
We will warn EULEX that control of the administrative border line in the sense of crossings, weapon smuggling and similar is a huge issue, the Minister recalled.
He recalled that the Serbian police and other security services have pointed to security risks in southern Serbia on a number of occasions.
In any case, we are ready to put an end to that. The police and the Gendarmerie will fulfil their tasks and respond to any attempts on Serbia’s territorial integrity and attacks on Ministry employees, Dacic said.
He noted that last night’s terrorist act is not the first attack in the Ground Safety Zone, stressing that it was carried out by the remnants of the terrorist groups that used to operate in those areas.
Dacic recalled that the police have seized considerable amounts of weapons and ammunition in that region, arrested members of terrorist groups, reiterating that the police, the Serbian Army and other security services are strong and resolved in fighting terrorism and ensuring peace.
The agreement, which Dacic and Novi Sad mayor Igor Pavlicic signed today, is worth over RSD 20 million.

In line with the agreement, the City of Novi Sad has provided the police administration in the city with new equipment to ensure better efficiency of the police.
Noting that, as in many other municipalities, the police in Novi Sad are insufficiently technically equipped, Dacic said that this agreement should be an example to other local self-governments.
Thus the police will be able to achieve its goals and successfully fight corruption, crime and terrorism, as well as fulfil conditions required for Serbia’s EU membership more quickly.
Pavlicic symbolically presented Dacic with keys to two BMW motorcycles and 20 VESPA scooters intended for the traffic police, adding that four Fiat punto cars and bullet proof vests will be handed over once they pass through customs.
