Strict health controls for all Universiade participants

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for EU Integration and President of the Universiade Belgrade 2009 organisational committee Bozidar Djelic said that the occurrence of the first case of the new H1N1 virus in Serbia has no connection with the upcoming Universiade.
The Deputy Prime Minister told RTV B92 that everything is ready for Universiade and noted that the occurrence of the virus in Serbia is being approached very seriously.
The arrival of nearly 10,000 guests from 142 countries is a big chance, joy and opportunity for Serbia.
However, the conditions of a new pandemics call for precise, serious and responsible moves by the authorities, he said.
Every delegation will be asked to submit medical reports for their members, he stated.
Djelic said that experts from the World Health Organisations (WHO) are in Belgrade.
The competitions will take place in 57 sport facilities in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Indjija, Vrsac, Smederevo and Zrenjanin, he said, noting that RSD 340 million was invested in the reconstruction and construction of these facilities.
