Serbian police prepared for Universiade

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic visiting the University Village today stated that the police and his Ministry are ready for the beginning of the Universiade.

While touring check points, police stations and the command centre in University Village, Dacic stressed he does not expect major challenges to security or any terrorist activities during the Universiade, but added that the police will be ready to act.
He said the Ministry of the Interior is constantly in touch with the European Police Office (Europol), Interpol and police forces from other countries.
He noted that over 6,000 police officers will be engaged as security for the Universiade, adding that the police will use new technology and equipment, including dozens of security cameras that will then be installed all over Belgrade after the event.
Chief of Serbian police Milorad Veljovic was also in the delegation visiting the University Village.
The Universiade begins on July 1 and over 10,000 participants from all over the world are expected to take part in sporting competitions.
