Dacic, Billström discuss visa liberalisation

Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said today that Serbia would be grateful for Swedish support as it makes efforts to fulfill the remaining conditions for the removal of visa restrictions.

Dacic, who is on a visit to Sweden, said after talks with Swedish Immigration Minister Tobias Billström that he informed Billström about Serbia’s progress regarding the conditions from the roadmap for visa liberalisation.
He said that it this was a very important meeting because Billström will be head of the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council.
Billström confirmed that the talks with Dacic were very productive. He said that he expects that future cooperation with Serbia will be good.
We talked about visa liberalisation. There are still some issues to be resolved but it is hoped that with joint effort we will overcome these problems, said Billström.
Dacic said that developing good relations with Sweden is also important because of the many Serbs living in Sweden.

He also met today with State Secretary of the Ministry for the EU Maria Olsenius, who stated that EU foreign ministers understand the importance of visa liberalisation for Serbian citizens.
The Minister also met today with Swedish Minister of Justice Beatrice Ask, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Frank Belfrage and the Deputy Director of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA).
Dacic also visited the Serbian Embassy in Stockholm, where he opened a new biometric terminal.
Serbian citizens will now be able to get passports in Stockholm as well, Dacic said.
