Deputy Prime Minister for EU Integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic opened today a conference titled “Importance of Scientific and Research Practice for Policy Creation”.
Djelic said that the poverty reduction strategy was successful because real reasons for poverty were taken into account.
He said that nearly 1,920 researchers are involved in social sciences and humanities and that the state financed these sciences with RSD 7.2 billion from 2002 to 2008.
He added that the Science Ministry is currently financing 500 projects.
The meeting was organised as part of the project “Analysis of Poverty Characteristics in Serbia”, jointly realised by the Ministry of Science and Technological Development, the team for the implementation of the Poverty Reduction Strategy and the Serbian Statistics Office.
