Djelic opens “Applied Nostalgia” photographic exhibition

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for EU integration Bozidar Djelic opened the third “Applied Nostalgia” exhibition last evening at the Serbian History Museum. The exhibition contains photographs of Belgrade and Prague. The Applied Nostalgia project was initiated to promote European values in Serbia and to present Serbia in European countries.

Djelic said at the occasion that it can be seen through the photographs that Belgrade and Prague are two quite different cities but it also becomes apparent that the people, the cafés, the trams and the overall atmosphere of both cities represent Europe.
He said that Serbia will hold this joint exhibition with the capital city of every country that assumes the EU presidency.
Czech Ambassador to Serbia Hana Hubackova said that she is pleased that one of the final cultural activities of the Czech embassy during its EU presidency is this exhibition, which is related to European integration and the EU.
This unique project has been designed to show how close Belgrade and other EU cities are to each other and to capture these similarities through photography, said Hubackova.
She said that the essence of this closeness lies within the people, their culture, history, emotions and their everyday lives.
The photographers, Imre Sabo from Serbia and Jan Sibik from the Czech Republic took photographs of places, events and people in each other’s cities which reminded them of their own city.
The project is being carried out under the auspices of Deputy Prime Minister Djelic’s Cabinet and is supported by the European Movement in Serbia. The exhibition was arranged with the help of the Czech embassy in Belgrade and the Serbian embassy in Prague.
The exhibition will last until June 20.
