Opening a two day summit on investment in Eastern Europe, Djelic said that it is very important that investment in the region does not decrease during the crisis. He recalled that the Serbian government will focus on large infrastructure projects this year.
Djelic said that investment in Corridor 10 will stand at more than €1.6 billion and that the Serbian government is planning to begin the construction of a new bridge on the Danube.
He said that talks are underway with China about a loan of nearly €200 million for this project, adding that talks with Russia should begin about continuing the construction of the metro in Belgrade.
Djelic said that he is optimistic that the EU will soon remove visa restrictions for Serbian citizens, adding that Director for Western Balkans at the European Commission Pierre Mirel is visiting Belgrade today to discuss the issue with Serbian officials.
