Mrkonjic, who signed the contracts, worth RSD 1.53 billion, with directors of these companies regarding the construction work, announced at a press conference that work will officially begin on May 10.
The Minister noted that the deadline for construction is six months, specifying that the road company Beograd will build 10 kilometres, between Subotica and Novi Sad, while Putevi Uzice will construct the section starting from Novi Sad heading north.
He voiced his hope that the sections will be put to use by November 29 this year.
Mrkonjic also affirmed that the government has found a way to pay their RSD 20 billion debt to various road companies, adding that the money will be in their accounts by the end of June.
Guarantees with banks have been secured and agreements reached, he said, adding that the government yesterday adopted two agreements for loans, which will be forwarded to parliament next week for adoption.
The Minister specified that the state owes RSD 30 billion to road companies, adding that another RSD 1.5 billion of debt will be settled through the Serbian oil industry NIS, while RSD 8.5 billion will be reprogrammed for five years, adding that the companies will also receive interest.
He also said that Serbia is ready to participate in arbitration proceedings regarding the termination of the concession for the Horgos–Pozega motorway construction, voicing his belief that Serbia will win the case.
