Sreckovic told a press conference that three million Serbs living abroad will get the chance to actively participate in the social, economic and political life of Serbia.
The government has recognised the importance of the Diaspora and Serbs in the region, he noted.
Sreckovic recalled that a public debate on this bill lasted for six months, while the draft version was sent to 2,400 organisations, associations and respectable individuals who were asked to participate in creating this law.
Under this law, ‘Serbs in the region’ refers to Serbs people living in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Romania, Albania and Hungary, he explained.
The Minister added that relations with the Diaspora and Serbs in the region are of great importance in the process of European integration and creating a modern Serbia.
