Counter-Terrorism Unit Day marked

Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic today attended a ceremony held to mark the Counter-Terrorism Unit Day, at the unit base in Lipovica.

Dacic said at the occasion that members of the Counter-Terrorism Unit have been successful in handling complicated situations involving hostages and did a good job upholding law and order at the demonstrations held in Belgrade following Kosovo’s unilateral declaration of independence.
The Minister reiterated that all state organs are firmly resolved to make Serbia a modern, developed and socially just country which will root out crime and corruption.
He said that the Interior Ministry will provide all necessary funds and support to the Counter-Terrorism Unit.
The ceremony was also attended by the Russian and US ambassadors to Serbia, Alexander Konuzin and Cameron Munter.
Konuzin handed over several thousands litres of diesel to the Serbian Interior Ministry while Munter delivered a donation worth $70,000 for equipping this unit and the Anti-Terrorist Unit.
