Ministerial declaration signed in Prague

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ivica Dacic stated that representatives of 48 countries signed today in Prague a ministerial declaration defining the migration process.

In an interview with the Tanjug news agency, Dacic said that the declaration specifies not only legal migration and working, legal, social and economic positions of people living abroad, but also the fight against illegal migration and the reintegration of returnees.
He pointed to the important role the Serbian delegation played in preparing the conference.
The Minister added that during his two-day working visit to Prague, he held a series of bilateral meetings, reiterating that the migration issue is also important for the removal of visa restrictions.
Minister Dacic also met with European Commission Vice President Jacques Barrot, who is in charge of interior affairs, to discuss Serbia’s visa liberalisation.
According to the Minister Barrot pointed out that Serbia has made great progress and confirmed that the European Commission delegation will visit Belgrade on May 11 to assess Serbia’s progress regarding visa liberalisation.
He stressed that ministers from European countries conveyed to him that they support Serbia’s EU integration and the removal of visa restrictions, adding that he was given these reassurances by ministers from the Czech Republic, Portugal, Luxembourg, Sweden and other countries.
He said that Germany’s stance is important for Serbia and his German counterpart has clearly stated that Germany will support any decision by the European Commission to remove visa restrictions for Serbia.
This is important for Serbia because Germany is our key partner in security related issues, said Dacic, stressing that it is realistic to expect that visa restrictions are removed after the European Parliament election in the second half of this year.
