Jeremic told B92 that Serbia will not participate in any exercise that is a threat to Russia or any other country.
The Partnership for Peace programme allows us to choose which projects we want to be part of, Jeremic explained.
He announced that there is a chance US Vice President Joe Biden will visit Serbia in late May.
According to Jeremic, the differences between the United States and Serbia regarding the status of Kosovo-Metohija are huge and we cannot expect them to become closer during Biden’s visit.
Our plan is to promote dialogue with Washington over issues on which we agree, Jeremic said.
Jeremic noted that according to the latest information from Kosovska Mitrovica, the security situation in the north of the province is difficult and Serbia is trying to calm down tensions.
He called on that situation to be calmed down and added that the return of Serbs to Kosovo is very important.
Relations between Serbia and the international community are burdened by the fact that we fundamentally disagree with some countries over the future status of Kosovo, he said.
Speaking on Serbia’s policy toward Bosnia-Herzegovina, Jeremic said that Serbia supports the Dayton Accords and everything else that the three nations agree on.
He announced the opening of consulates in Croatia and Montenegro, noting that the Rijeka consulate in Croatia will be closed down but one will be opened in Knin.
Jeremic also expressed expectations that Serbia will submit a EU candidacy status request by the end of 2009.
