In an interview with the Tanjug news agency, Minister Dacic explained that the government’s key measures refer to the reductions within the state administration, adding that the burden of the crisis will mainly rest on the state.
Budget revision does not imply a reduction in salaries and pensions, except when it comes to the state administration, specified Dacic, noting that the 2009 budget will be filled by increasing taxes and excise duties.
The Minister pointed out that all Ministries have already reduced their spending, which will adversely affect their work, as well as the realisation of government programmes.
He voiced his belief that the budget revision and agreements with the IMF, World Bank and European investment funds will help prevent further falls in economic activity.
