Minister of Finance Diana Dragutinovic stated that the government today adopted a revision of the 2009 state budget, stipulating a RSD 649.3 billion revenue and a RSD 719.8 billion expenditure, which means that budget deficit for 2009 will be RSD 70.5 billion.

At a press conference following the government session, Dragutinovic said that budget income will decrease by RSD 49.4 billion or 7.1% and expenditures will go up by RSD 28.9 billion or 3.9%.
The Minister specified that the budget deficit will increase by RSD 20.5 billion instead of the planned RSD 50 billion, adding that the government has revised the budget according to the estimate that Serbia’s GDP growth in 2009 will be 2% lower than in 2008 and that inflation will be 10%.
Dragutinovic announced the setting up of a special budget fund, which will be filled by taxing salaries higher than RSD 40,000.
The Minister noted that according to the budget revision salaries will be frozen and therefore kept at the same level as 2008.
She said that owners of cars with Montenegrin number plates in Serbia will be able to pay customs duties and VAT within three months.
Dragutinovic estimated that there are not more than 40,000 such cars.
