Dinkic, Brkic discuss economic cooperation between Serbia, Republika Srpska

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic and Republika Srpska Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Relations and Coordination Jasna Brkic today agreed to sign an agreement on cooperation in late May in Banjaluka.
According to the Ministry’s statement, the agreement should help the exchange of experiences, improve cooperation and draft the law on regional development, which is soon to be adopted by the Republika Srpska parliament.
The Ministers discussed the measures for economic stability the two countries have already implemented during the global economic downturn.
Dinkic said that subsidised loans to businesses and the public active measures for providing employment and the construction of infrastructure are three key measures which the Serbian government has adopted. He suggested that Republika Srpska should make it possible for people younger than 30 who have never held a job to find employment.
He told Brkic about the public works programme which will create new jobs.
Brkic expressed interest in cooperation in the areas of regional development and sought help from the Ministry of Economy which has provided some good solutions in the draft law on regional development, which should be passed by the Serbian parliament later this year.
Non-tariff barriers to trade were also discussed at the meeting and Dinkic stressed that Serbia is working on the regulation of border procedures which are very complicated, also the new law on food safety will establish a simple inspection procedure which will stimulate foreign trade.
