Serbia making every effort to fully cooperate with ICTY

Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic met today with the Hague tribunal’s Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz, who is on a two day visit to Belgrade.

Dacic informed Brammertz about Serbia’s efforts to meet its international obligations up until now. He reiterated that Serbia is doing everything in its power to fully cooperate with the Hague tribunal.
Brammertz said that cooperation with the Interior Ministry and other state bodies is going well, adding that he hopes that it will be continued.
Dacic stressed the importance of Brammertz’s positive report on Serbia’s cooperation with the tribunal, which he will present in June at the Security Council, and which could remove the last hindrance in unblocking the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between Serbia and the EU.
The Minister sought from the Chief Prosecutor that more attention be paid by the tribunal to the health conditions of certain indictees, saying that he hopes that some of those convicted by the tribunal will be able to serve their sentences in their own countries.
