Dacic specified that 177 police officers lost their lives in the bombing, reiterating that the Ministry of the Interior is under an obligation to take care of their families and preserve the memory of those who gave their lives for their country.
Over 800 Ministry members lost their lives in the 1990s defending their country and people, Dacic recalled, announcing that the Ministry will try to raise monuments to all police officers killed on duty.
He said that the Ministry building in Belgrade was also targeted during the bombing, adding that the monument to police officers will be put up in the Ministry courtyard after its renovation.
He recalled that Serbia was bombed without the permission of the UN Security Council, adding that the act was a breach of all international laws.
During the NATO bombing a terrible crime was committed against our people. Several thousand civilians, police officers and soldiers were killed, innocent victims who defended their country and their people, reiterated the Minister, adding that this is a day of remembrance for all of them.
