€1.4m to implement sustainable development strategy

Deputy Prime Minister for EU Integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic chaired a session of the Council for Sustainable Development today at which topics relevant for the implementation of the action plan for the national sustainable development strategy, which was adopted by the government on March 13, were discussed.
The application of the action plan will start immediately with help from the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) to the amount of €1.4 million.
Next week, EU commissioners in Brussels will be presented with a report on activities so far.
The price of the economic crisis must not be paid by the poorest citizens or the environment, Djelic said.
He added that priorities are to employ the poorest people and to introduce purer technologies and greater energy efficiency.
Djelic announced a meeting of “Friends of Sustainable Serbia” in June, at which the sustainable development related projects of various ministries will be presented.
