Greece to vote for Serbia’s inclusion on Schengen white list

Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said today that Greece will support Serbia’s EU integration and that Greek Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos will vote for the removal of visa restrictions for Serbian citizens.

Dacic, who is attending the 8th Conference on Interior and Corporate Safety in Athens, said in a statement to Tanjug news agency that the Greek Interior Minister will vote for Serbia’s inclusion on to the Schengen “white list” at the meeting of the EU Interior Ministers, which is due to be held in the second half of this year.
He said that he expects that Pavlopoulos will visit Serbia this year, adding that it was reiterated at today’s meeting that there is good cooperation between the police and interior ministries of the two countries.
The Minister said that agreement was reached to continue implementation of the Agreement on political cooperation which was signed last year and to prepare a protocol on cooperation concerning criminal police units, border police units and joint training.
He also pointed out to the necessity of signing a protocol on readmission and a protocol on driving licenses.
