Djelic presents award to physicist Vladimir Dobrosavljevic

Deputy Prime Minister for EU integration and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic today presented Vladimir Dobrosavljevic with the award for exceptional research in physics, established by the Professor Marko Jaric Fund.

At the ceremony Djelic said that Dobrosavljevic, a full time professor at Florida State University, USA, was awarded for his contribution to the development of the theory of correlated disordered electronic systems.
He stressed it is important to make concrete moves and improve the state of Serbian science in order to procure funds for scientists to work in Serbia, since many Serbian scientists working abroad applied for the award, thus showing they want to represent their country with knowledge.
Djelic said that this award was established ten years ago and is presented on the anniversary of Professor Doctor Marko Jaric’s birth to mark his extraordinary scientific achievements and work in physics, biophysics and applied mathematics.
He announced negotiations with the European Investment Bank to gain funds to finance science infrastructure. Dobrosavljevic will also receive RSD 220,000 as part of the award. Dobrosavljevic is full time professor at Florida State University in Tallahassee and has published 57 science papers.
The founders of the Marko Jaric Fund are scientists from the Faculty of Physics, the Physics Institute, the Institute for Nuclear Sciences Vinca, the mathematics institute at the Serbian Academy of Science and Arts, the Serbian Unity Congress and the Jaric family.
