Hague tribunal’s ruling will not influence ICJ’s opinion on Kosovo

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic stated that the Hague tribunal’s verdict on former Serbian state and military officials will not influence the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) opinion concerning the legality of the unilaterally declared Kosovo independence.

In an interview with the Vecernje Novosti daily, Jeremic pointed out that Serbia’s legal argument clearly shows that events that occurred during the 1990s and the NATO bombing were extremely severe.
The unilaterally declared Kosovo independence is not in accordance with international law, stressed the Minister.
If there is no political pressure, justice and international law would certainly be in Serbia’s favour, concluded Jeremic.
