Serbian Minister of Agriculture Sasa Dragin said at a press conference that India’s experience in agriculture and industries related to agricultural production will be valuable for Serbia.
Dragin stressed that there is a lot of interest in both countries for cooperation in areas such as crop and vegetable farming, veterinary services and seed production, adding that Indian companies Mahindra and Sonalika are interested in manufacturing tractors in Serbia.
The Serbian market is interested in the tractors produced by these two companies, said the Minister, adding that an agreement is still to be reached concerning the amount of this Greenfield investment and negotiations are underway.
We had preliminary talks and presented to the Indian side the conditions under which Serbia helps investors to acquire a land parcel with infrastructure, explained Dragin.
Head of the Indian delegation and Secretary at the Agriculture Sector with the Indian Ministry of Agriculture T Nanda Kumar said that the agreement envisages cooperation between the two countries in science, transfer of technologies and economics.
Kumar noted that Serbia has huge potential in food industry and food production, adding that it is very satisfactory that the foreign trade between Serbia and India is increasing.
