Sutanovac said in an interview with weekly "Vreme" that Serbia supports the strengthening of UN security mechanisms of collective security and that it is ready to strengthen its own security through its engagement in Europe’s security and defence policy as well as NATO’s Partnership for Peace Programme.
The Minister stressed that Serbia does not see any country or alliance as an enemy and that its dedication is together with other countries
He explained that Serbia grounds its defence concept on its defence policy and risk assessment, adding that the defence strategy is defined in the Constitution and the National Security Strategy.
The Minister said that Serbia’s interests include protection of its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity as well as security for it’s citizens, building trust, promotion of security and stability in the region as well as partnerships with international security organisations and institutions of democratic countries.
Serbia went through a series of high-risk security situations, he said and commended the army for realising the importance and seriousness of their task.
There are three Serbian brigades deployed around Kosovo, Sutanovac said, adding that there are 38 active generals in Serbia.
