In an interview with the daily Vecernje Novosti Dacic said that the law on provincial jurisdictions should correct certain decrees of the Statute Proposal which are contrary to the Serbian Constitution.
He said that the Serbian Constitution cannot be amended because of the Vojvodina Statute, adding that he thinks that certain decrees of the Statute Proposal will be amended.
Speaking about relations with the EU Dacic said that he expects a positive response from the expert commission in April and it is realistic to think that Serbia will be included on to the Schengen “white list” this year.
Regarding the Kosovo issue Dacic said that the Serbian Foreign Ministry has a firm stance concerning the southern Serbian province, stressing that there is no doubt that the struggle for Kosovo is a priority for the government.
He said that the police are now carrying out actions against organised criminal groups and are fighting against corruption.
Responding to the question about whether dual citizenship negotiations with Montenegro have definitely failed Dacic said this is not the case.
The negotiations have not failed, but we have to take care of our citizens. There are 250,000 people here who are originally from Montenegro and most of them wish to have at least a symbolic connection, such as citizenship, with their birth place. It is election time in Montenegro and this is not the right moment for them to go on with the talks. The Montenegrin authorities have no reason for concern, because only 2,000 people have applied for Serbian citizenship, he said.
Asked whether there will be an exchange of lists of citizens who have in the meanwhile acquired Serbian or Montenegrin citizenship Dacic said that Montenegro is asking for this to be an integral part of the agreement but it has not been done until now.
