Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Sasa Dragin stated that the government today adopted a programme of long-term housing loans for 2009, allowing subsidies to those citizens who do not own any property.

At a press conference, following the government session, Dragin explained that the National Corporation for Housing Loans will receive funds from the state budget.
Long-term housing loans will be provided to citizens whose monthly salary is not higher than RSD 100,000 for the purchase of a flat spanning no more than 50 square metres and worth €40,000 at the most.
Dragin said that the government today adopted a decree on the provision of funds for the development of villages through agricultural investments, as well as through improvement of competition.
Dragin added that the Ministry will suggest that the government increase milk premiums from current RSD 1.4 per litre to RSD 2 per litre and voiced his belief that the government will soon consider subsidies for milk producers.
The Minister invited all milk producers not to breach their agreements with farmers in the upcoming period, as they have already invested large funds in their business.
He said that the Ministry will demand that it is established whether there was a monopoly of milk and dairy products on the market.
Dragin recalled that according to the Commision for Protection of Competition, there is a monopoly and this case is still before the Supreme Court.

State Secretary at the Justice Ministry Slobodan Homen said that laws which are a condition for travel of Serbian citizens in the EU will be adopted by April.
Homen announced that bills affirming the Council of Europe’s conventions in the fight against human trafficking and terrorism, as well as bills affirming the protocol accompanying the European Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism, on affirming the Council of Europe Convention on Laundering, Search, Seizure and Confiscation of the Proceeds from Crime and on the Financing of Terrorism were adopted today.
He noted that the government also adopted the bill on affirming the Convention on Cybercrime as well as the bill on affirming additional protocols of the Convention on Cybercrime regarding acts of racism and xenophobia, the bill on employment and insurance and the bill on international legal aid.
The adoption of these bills show the government’s resolve for EU integration, he said, noting that only anti-discriminatory laws remain to be adopted to meet all conditions for visa abolition.
