In an interview for the Banja Luka daily Nezavisne Novine, Jeremic said Serbia supports Republika Srpska by endorsing the Dayton Agreement and the territorial unity of its neighbour, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
He stressed that Serbia does not want to meddle in Bosnia-Herzegovina’s interior matters, but being a guarantor of the Dayton Agreement it is firm in its stance that the agreement can be changed only under the Dayton criteria.
The Minister noted that Serbia is ready to set up special and parallel relations with Bosnia-Herzegovina, adding that the Serbian President, Boris Tadic, has also voiced his readiness to do so during his visit to Sarajevo in 2006.
If Sarajevo is willing, Serbia is absolutely ready, but we do not want to impose that idea, said Jeremic, adding that Serbia has invested considerable effort during 2008 to prevent destabilisation of the region.
He voiced his hope that next year there will be by far less turmoil than this year, adding that in 2009 everyone should find the strength to continue towards Europe.
Our goal is EU integration and in that sense we can help each other more than we have done so far, concluded the Minister.
