Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac today stated that the EULEX mission may be deployed in Kosovo-Metohija only with UN approval and under clear terms, i.e. that it does not adhere to the Ahtisaari plan and help facilitate the province’s independence.
In an interview for the RFI Radio, Sutanovac said that a final solution regarding EULEX deployment in the southern Serbian province will have to be reached soon, adding that
the UN Security Council session was postponed due to pressure from some countries.
Speaking about EU integration, he noted that Serbia has no alternative other than the EU and that its citizens expect Serbia to be on the Schengen "white list."
According to him, if politicians in Europe want a stable Balkans, Serbia’s demands must be met.
Sutanovac noted that Serbia is striving to continue cooperation with the tribunal in The Hague, stressing that the Serbian Army is not protecting any Hague indictees still at large.
