State Secretary for Tourism at the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Goran Petkovic opened the “Cultural Corridors” conference, which is being organised by the Council of Europe.
Petkovic said that the culture industry is currently one of the fastest growing sectors, becoming the centre of business and uniting private and public management.
Serbia has all necessary potentials to contribute to creating new types of cultural and tourist policies in the region, he said.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture Nadica Momirov stressed that cultural creativity is considered an important factor in its development policy.
She said that it is of top importance that a programme for connecting culture and economy, public and private sectors as well as local and regional ones is structured in a way that incorporates both efficient and proper aims.
Director of the Tourist Organisation of Serbia Gordana Plamenac pointed out that the countries of South Eastern Europe are to identify common interests and expressed conviction that the EU Council and the European Commission will strongly support the development of a cultural corridor.
