Djelic told a press conference that the university village will be completed next February, easily before the deadline.
He said that around RSD 260 million will be saved by holding the opening and closing ceremonies in the Belgrade Arena and added that RSD 540 million have been saved by cutting the number of sports from 21 to the usual 15.
Djelic said that RSD 360 million less will be spent on timing equipment, adding that the organising committee agreed that health care services should be provided by the Military Medical Academy, which helps cut costs by an additional RSD 600 million.
Djelic added that the Ministry of the Interior is yet to submit a proposal for the cost of security for the event.
At the next session the government is to decide on how to speed up public procurements and works regarding the Universiade, noted Djelic, adding that the procedure will be fully transparent and every contract posted on the internet.
By end-November a top delegation of the International University Sports Federation will arrive in Belgrade to make sure that preparations are going as planned, because Universiade is the largest sporting event ever organised by Serbia, added Djelic.
