Serbian Minister of Culture Nebojsa Bradic today presented the results achieved by his ministry during its first 100 days and said that the decentralization of culture had started, progress had been made in legislative activities and work on adapting media regulations to EU standards has begun.

Bradic said at a press conference that the opening of the Belgrade book fair showed Serbia’s position amongst world culture, adding that Serbia’s goal is to enter into European and global trends, and investment in culture is of strategic national interest.
The Minister said that there will be intensive decentralization of culture, in order to widen horizons for cultural events taking place throughout the country.
According to Bradic, most of the funds for financing cultural events are allocated to projects in Belgrade, this inequality being an issue that must be addressed by the Ministry.
He said in future the Ministry will work to achieve a balanced approached in order to support equal cultural development.
The Minister said that these laws on culture and media will be adopted as an integral part of EU integration.
Assistant Minister Dragan Janjic said that new media laws will be passed in a transparent process for which the Ministry has formed a working group.
Janjic said that he hopes that the press council will begin to function soon and begin to contribute to media regulation.
