Addressing a press conference, at which the Serbian sustainable development office presented its priorities for sustainable economic development in underdeveloped areas in Serbia, Ugljanin said that building infrastructure in 29 underdeveloped municipalities is one of the priorities.
He explained that construction of roads, utility and energy infrastructure will create the climate needed for drawing foreign investors.
One of the major projects of the office is the business centre in Tutin, said the Minister adding that all underdeveloped areas in Serbia will be treated equally.
According to statistics available, underdeveloped municipalities are in the southern and eastern parts of the country, said Ugljanin. He specified that in 13 municipalities in that area of Serbia more than 40% or nearly 55,000 young people are unemployed.
He said that the Serbian government will do team work to resolve problems in sustainable economic growth in underdeveloped municipalities.
According to Ugljanin, there are plans to make industrial zones, similar to the business centre in Tutin, in other underdeveloped areas according to the principles of sustainable growth.
The Minister added that the construction of a civilian cargo airport in Sjenica, railway line from Raska to Novi Pazar, as well as sections of the Belgrade – South Adriatic highway are future projects under consideration.
