According to the statement issued by the Ministry, the meeting was also attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture Nadica Momirov and First Secretary at the Russian embassy Andrey Maksakov, and it was agreed that cultural and historical links between the two nations are much wider than what is visible from cooperation at an official level, due to which an initiative has been launched to intensify cultural cooperation, and to sign an agreement on cultural cooperation between the two ministries.
Bradic said that signing the agreement is a good move and will improve cooperation.
Konuzin said that he has been pleasantly surprised by the volume and quality of cultural activities in Serbia, and added that he wishes for Russian culture to be present in Serbia’s cultural life.
He expressed satisfaction over the fact that works by many contemporary Russian writers are being translated in Serbia, and the Serbian public is interested in Russian literature.
The Russian Ambassador presented a proposal to mark 65 years of victory over fascism in 2010 by arranging a joint programme, and supported the Ethnographic Museum’s initiative to hold an event in 2011 to promote Slavic culture.
Konuzin reiterated that the Russian government will participate in the reconstruction of Serbian monasteries in Kosovo, concludes the statement.
