Samardzic-Markovic said that the Fund for Young Talents decided to increase the monthly amount of scholarships from RSD 20,000 to RSD 25,000.
The amount for students studying abroad will be up to RSD 1,250,000 per student who will be obliged to work in Serbia for at least five years, she said.
In order to compete for the scholarship, students must be Serbian citizens or have refugee status that were admitted to a graduate studies programme at one of the universities in an EU country and finished their undergraduate studies at a state university in Serbia, explained Samardzic-Markovic.
The Minister added that postgraduates who wish to compete for a scholarship must have a degree from a state university in Serbia, a minimum average mark of 8.5 and should not be older than 26; for medical students the age limit is 28.
Rector of the Belgrade University Branko Kovacevic said that nearly €7 million has been invested in young talented students and added that investing in young people should be Serbia’s development strategy.
