Troicki faces Nadal in 3rd round of US Open

Belgrade/New York, 29 August 2008

Serbian tennis player Viktor Troicki achieved his greatest success at a grand slam tournament so far by going through to the third round at the US Open.

Troicki, currently ranked 71st in the world, beat 25th seed Phillip Kohlschreiber from Germany.

Troicki’s next opponent is top seed Spain’s Rafael Nadal.

The top ranked tennis player Ana Ivanovic failed to book a place in the third round at the US Open by losing in the second round to Julie Coin 2:1 (6:3, 4:6, 6:3).

Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor reached the second round of the US Open men’s doubles tournament as top-seeded pair.

Zimonjic and Nestor beat American Jim Thomas and China Taipei’s Lu Yen-Hsun in the first round 2:0 (6:2, 7:6).

In the second round, Wimbledon champions will take on Britain’s Ross Hutchins and Andy Murray.
