Ethiopian Gada Gemsisa Gudeta won the 39th Belgrade Marathon, which was held today in Serbia’s capital.
Second place was taken by Macedonian Dario Ivanovski, while Kenya’s Johana Erot finished third.
In the women’s competition, the title went to Eden Alemu Dadi of Ethiopia, with Kenya’s Ruth Chepkoech placing second and Caroline Chebichi finishing third.
A total of 2,350 competitors took part in the main race, while the overall number of participants reached 14,500 from 79 countries.
This year’s marathon was unique in that it was held over two days – the half marathon and the 10-kilometre race were held yesterday.
At the same time, the marathon served as a test event and a dress rehearsal for the European Running Championships over 10, 21 and 42 kilometres, which Belgrade will host in 2027, when the 40th anniversary of the Belgrade Marathon will also be marked.
