Serbia’s national water polo team defeated Israel this evening 19:9 (4:3, 5:3, 3:1, 7:2), thereby securing first place in Group C at the European Championships in Belgrade.
Serbia finished top of the group with eight points, ahead of Spain with six, the Netherlands with one, while Israel ended without any points.
The second phase of the championship follows, in which the three top-ranked teams from Group C will compete against teams from Group D.
Serbia will face France on 16 January, Hungary on 18 January and Montenegro on 20 January.
The two best teams will qualify for the semi-finals.
