Djokovic, Jankovic go through at US Open

On the third day of the US Open, Novak Djokovic and Jelena Jankovic came out on top.

Djokovic beat Frenchman Arnaud Clement 3:0 (6:3, 6:3, 6:4) and qualified for the second round.

Jelena Jankovic triumphed over Sweden’s Sofia Arvidsson 2:1 (6:3, 6:7, 7:5) and secured a place in the third round.

Janko Tipsarevic played against American Sam Warburg but failed to qualify for the second round since he was forced to retire due to an ankle injury.

Today Ana Ivanovic will take on France’s Julie Coin in the second round, Viktor Troicki will face Phillip Kohlschreiber and at the same time Nenad Zimonjic and Canadian Daniel Nestor are to kick-off in the doubles against American Jim Thomas and China Taipei’s Lu Yen-Hsun.
