Slobodan Milosavljevic
Speaking at a press conference, Milosavljevic said that it is one of the most developed regions of Russia where the upcoming Winter Olympics are to be held, and that Serbian companies must try to win business contracts related to preparations for the Olympics.
He said that the total budget for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Sochi is worth $20 billion and the aim of the exhibition is to present the potential of the Serbian economy and make it possible for Serbian companies to win contracts for building and equipping facilities for the prestigious sports event.
According to Milosavljevic, it is expected that nearly 50 Serbian companies will take part in the exhibition, and a joint working group has been formed to work on this project which consists of representatives of several ministries.
The Minister said that the bill on general product safety, which the Serbian government adopted today, is a systemic law that will ensure a high level of product safety.
Currently, there are no explicit and precise regulations in Serbia on obligations of producers and distributors to place healthy and good quality products on the market, he said and added that the bill is in line with European regulations.
This is a simple law consisting of 29 clauses but is highly important for Serbia, said Milosavljevic.
The Minister also confirmed that despite earlier announcements the government at its session today did not discuss the decree on increasing pensions by 10% from September.
He said that consultations between representatives of several ministries with Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic are ongoing, and a decision can be expected within the next few days.
Sasa Dragin
Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Sasa Dragin said that the government proposed today that conditions must be secured for the urgent expropriation of land where the Svrackovo reservoir is to be built on the River Rzav.
The reservoir construction project, which will make it possible to improve water supply to surrounding municipalities, was designed in 1987, and a sum of RSD 280 million has been set aside from the National Investment Plan for its implementation, said Dragin.
He said that today he will visit municipalities suffering from severe water shortages, which are now being supplied with water from the regional pipeline Rzav.
According to Dragin, dry weather has affected water supply to more than 300,000 residents in the municipalities of Cacak, Pozega, Arilje, Lucani and Gornji Milanovac.
The Minister stressed that the government will make all efforts to complete construction on the reservoir, but three years are needed to build systems for regular water supply to these municipalities.
Authorities in the municipalities affected, he stressed, are responsible for securing building permits for constructing the reservoir and the water supply system in cooperation with the Serbian Water Directorate as soon as possible.
