He told a press conference that the government adopted the
Communication on return of Serbian ambassadors to EU countries that recognised Kosovo-Metohija’s unilaterally declared independence.
The proposal to return 11 of Serbia’s ambassadors was filed by the Foreign Ministry, Dulic said and noted that Serbian ambassadors will return to Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, Germany, Slovenia and Sweden.
This decision was made to improve Serbia’s diplomatic position and create space for manoeuvre for a wider diplomatic action bearing in mind two priorities, fight for preservation of Kosovo within Serbia and intensifying the country's European integration.
He said that the decision will come into force on the day of its adoption and that there is no need for it to be confirmed in the Serbian parliament. He voiced hope that the ambassadors will be returned as soon as next week.
With this decision, Serbia wants to send a message that it has not given up its defence of Kosovo-Metohija, the minister said and added that a decision to return ambassadors to the remaining countries will not be made before the holding of the UN General Assembly, at which Serbia will request the International Court of Justice to give its opinion as to whether recognition of Kosovo’s independence is legitimate.
In case that some EU countries recognise Kosovo’s independence in the upcoming period, a recommendation will be given on necessary steps.
Dulic said that the Serbian government dismissed coordinators in most municipalities in Kosovo-Metohija since there is no more need for them after the election of new Serbian municipal assemblies in Kosovo.
Dulic said that the government received a report from Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic on reconfiguration of international administration in the province.
