Jeremic told Russian daily Rossiiskaya Gazeta prior to his visit to Moscow tomorrow that he expects joint activities on the international scene to continue, particularly in terms of Kosovo-Metohija.
He stressed that nothing has changed with regard to Serbia’s position on Kosovo after the election of the new Serbian government.
Our government will be consistent about Kosovo, we will never give up the battle for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, said Jeremic noting that absolute unity of the state policy has been preserved.
Asked whether Serbia intends to create “parallel Serb authorities in Kosovo”, Jeremic said that Belgrade will continue fully to support Serbian representatives who were chosen democratically and their battle for the revival of Kosovo.
The other foreign policy priority is the country’s European integration, he said and expressed satisfaction that on that issue, Serbia has Moscow’s full support.
Jeremic said that the EU is going through complicated institutional changes that would be overcome in a few years’ time, but hopefully they will not leave the Western Balkan countries outside the Union.
I believe that constitutional and institutional changes in the EU will not stand in the way of Serbia’s accession, the Minister said.
He added that another topic will be the oil and gas agreement on cooperation with Russia which has majority support in the Serbian parliament.
On July 17, Jeremic will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Presidential Envoy to the Central Federal District Georgy Poltavchenko.
