Mirko Cvetkovic at today's press conference
At a press conference following a regular government session, Cvetkovic said it is important that the new government maintains the continuity of its policy regarding the non-acceptance of Kosovo-Metohija’s independence.
He said that the government proposed that the second item on parliament’s agenda should be the Bill on the ratification of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) and the transitional agreement on trade cooperation with the EU.
According to him, the third item on the agenda should be the Bill on the ratification of the gas arrangement with Russia, and the fourth – ratification of various financial agreements.
The Prime Minister said that all political parties in the government stand behind the proposed resolution on maintaining continuity of state policy towards Kosovo-Metohija, and added that he expects that some of the opposition parties will also vote for the proposal.
He said that in the text of the proposed resolution there is no mention of its connection to the SAA.
Cvetkovic said that the price of the capital of the Serbian oil processor Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) is not mentioned in the text of the energy agreement with Russia, which has been sent to parliament for ratification, and will be negotiated later.
According to Cvetkovic, the agreement on the sale of a portion of NIS’s capital, which was signed on January 25 this year in Moscow, is the “umbrella document”, while the protocol which includes the prices is of a “lower” rank.
He said that negotiations must be held to determine the details of the contract which will be concluded on the basis of the agreement.
The Prime Minister added that a working group has been formed which will be part of the negotiation team, and said that it will probably be necessary to include experts in these talks as well.
