Speaking at a press conference, Miscevic said that the competition is being held in cooperation with the European Commission Delegation in Serbia, the French embassy and Erste Bank.
She stressed that there are five categories of awards for the best works in print and electronic media in Serbia in the period from January 1 to November 1, 2008.
According to Miscevic, winners in the categories of best coverage on television, radio, in print media, local media and best report on small and medium-sized enterprises will travel at the end of the year to Paris and Brussels, where they will have the opportunity to meet with representatives of the French government and European institutions.
Head of the European Commission Delegation to Serbia Josep Lloveras pointed to the importance of media in the process of EU integration in Serbia, and the role they play in the everyday life of people.
Lloveras stressed that the process of European integration is very complex, it has a lot of advantages, but a certain price as well, and one of the difficulties journalists face is explaining a number of complicated ideas to the public. He added that besides presenting advantages it is also desirable to maintain a critical view, backed by well founded arguments.
Erste Bank executive director Andrea Brbaklic said that the bank will provide each winner with €400 for expenses during their visit to Paris and Brussels.
Small and medium-sized enterprises are the key to Serbia’s development and we will make an effort to make the public aware of all that the EU can do for small and medium-sized businesses, said Brbaklic and added that Erste Bank will work in the area of EU integration solely from a business perspective.
Competition entries should be sent to the EU Integration Office. All information about the competition is available on the
website of the Office.
