Speaking at a press conference, Jeremic said that these two agreements are two pillars for the further expansion of Serbia’s relations with Russia and the EU, and added that both agreements have been forwarded to the Serbian parliament for ratification.
The energy agreement will not only provide a better life for Serbian people, but also make Serbia an essential link in the energy supply chain, said the Minister and expressed satisfaction at the fact that this agreement was adopted unanimously.
Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Slobodan Samardzic said that ministers from the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and the New Serbia (NS) did not take part in the adoption of the bill on ratifying the SAA between Serbia and the EU.
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic said that today which is celebrated as Europe Day, is a victorious day for a European Serbia which is strengthening relations with Russia and creating a better life for its people.
He explained that the Prime Minister and ministers from the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and the New Serbia did not want to attend the vote to ratify the agreement with the EU, which was adopted unanimously in their absence. When they returned to the session hall, the law on confirmation of the energy agreement with Russia was voted for as well.
Djelic said that the government had reached consensus on those agreements previously, so it was logical that that same government should adopt them at its last session and send for initialling to the new composition of Serbian parliament.
The government also adopted today the national youth strategy and the sustainable development strategy of Serbia.
Minster of Trade and Services Predrag Bubalo said that the energy agreement with Russia will enable Serbia’s further development with a great greenfield investment, perhaps the biggest one in the upcoming period, launch many companies and create many jobs.
Bubalo said that this agreement is of huge importance politically and geostrategicaly, since it is a link with Russia towards Europe.
