Simon Gray, left, and Dragan Djilas at today's press conference
Speaking at a press conference held at the Serbian government, dealing with cooperation and future activities of the Office for the NIP and the World Bank, Djilas thanked representatives of the World Bank for the assistance it approved to Serbia last year, owing to which the NIP has became a serious programme for the country’s development.
Head of the World Bank office in Serbia Simon Gray voiced hope that the World Bank will continue helping the Serbian authorities by developing a comprehensive programme, backed up with a €50 million loan.
He said that after the formation of a new Serbian government, the World Bank’s Board of Directors will discuss that loan. He voiced hope that that will be before the end of 2008.
The head of the World Bank office in Serbia recalled that this institution assisted the implementation of projects from the NIP by establishing certain procedures for selection and realisation of projects, establishing rules for submitting project proposals, and offering assistance in making procedures transparent.
