Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica stated that Serbia’s territorial integrity was not endangered on November 7 when the Stabilisation and Association Agreement was initialled, but after February 17, when 18 EU members illegally recognised Kosovo’s unilateral independence and most severely breached the initialled agreement.
In an interview for today’s edition of the Politika daily, Kostunica said that therein lies the main problem and recalled that the Resolution, adopted by Serbian parliament on December 26 and supported by all parties, contains a provision saying that all international agreements must aim to preserve Serbia’s territorial integrity.
He reiterated that no state has ever ensured a better life for its citizens by surrendering a portion of its territory and stressed that this would be Serbia’s road to attaining a puppet status, which can only lead to further partitioning of the country.
Speaking about cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, he recalled the well-known fact that Serbia has done a lot to fulfil its obligations and has set up an action team and the National Security Council. He also added that all parliamentary parties took part in this, therefore they are all responsible for the achieved level of cooperation with the Tribunal.
