In a statement to the Vienna daily Die Presse, Miscevic stressed that Serbia cannot afford to lose another month or a year and noted that the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) is just the first step towards full EU membership.
She said that the time between the last parliamentary elections in January 2007 and the present day has not been wasted when it comes to EU integration, because Serbia continued with the harmonisation of laws and implementation of EU standards.
Besides, we are preparing a plan in 35 chapters which will include the things Serbia has to do and how much that would cost. We are doing that in advance, although we do not whether it will be necessary any time soon, she said.
Miscevic noted that it would have been better for all sides if the SAA had been signed before the unilateral proclamation of Kosovo independence and added that there have been many omissions on behalf of the EU.
